Russian Immigrants in Canada in Russian Language

post number oneHi everyone who is reading my blog about Russia and Canada and immigration. Halifax is booming with ice hockey and this is not only because NHL playoff has started. Tens thousands of Haligonians are excited to see the local junior team Halifax Mooseheads in QMJHL playoff finals.

And not only Mooseheads will start in final, but definitely as a favorite of these games. It is never happened before since Halifax joined QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League) in 1994.

It was pretty obvious last year that Mooseheads will do great job in 2013. They lost to Rimouski in overtime of the dramatic Game 6 during 1/2 final and even that result was a break-through for the team.

This year Halifax Mooseheads satisfied expectations of all, even most demanding, fans. The team won the regular season and defeated all opponents in 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2 playoffs, winning all 12 games.

Crowds beat all records filling up the Metro Arena with full capacity of 10500.

I work in downtown Halifax and every time there was a game I saw thousands of supporters heading toward the Metro Arena.

And finally, today was the day when tickets went on sale for two home games in Halifax and fans were in line at 1am to make sure they will have tickets in the morning. Tickets were sold in 20 minutes.

Game 1 is on Friday.
